Nuit Blanche Toronto 2024

The A4Y Psychedelic Portrait Studio, hosted by Arnie Guha at The Lyceum Gallery during Nuit Blanche 2024, was an interactive art installation in Toronto’s West Queen West Arts District. Merging Guha's bold psychedelic imagery with intimate black-and-white portrait photography, the studio aligned with Nuit Blanche’s theme, Bridging Distance. Guha invited strangers to become part of a living art experience, photographing them and projecting their edited portraits onto the gallery walls in real time. Reflecting on the experience, Guha said, “What I love most about these pop-up booths is how people share in my passion and offer a piece of themselves to be incorporated into the art.” This “live” display transformed the space, intertwining art and audience. Each person’s image reflected their individuality and role within a collective experience, merging personal and shared moments in a way that embodied Nuit Blanche’s exploration of connection.
